素材:癒合剤 healing agent on garden
Title: How Are You?
Artist: Saki Kurushima
Year: 2025
Dimensions: Variable
Materials: Healing agent on garden
Artist Statement:
The golden rule for maintaining a garden is to make it appear as though it has been touched by human hands as little as possible. Among them, some are quite talkative, and others are reticent. They bathe in the sunlight, exchange the air, touch the faces of the stones, and are made to listen to the sound of water. Just as we look at the garden, the garden is looking at us.
Oil on fusuma
Title: Wheat Field
Artist: Yuhei Makiyama
Year: 2025
Dimensions: 1730 × 7600 × 23mm
Materials: Fusuma (Japanese sliding door), Oil paint, Oil on fusuma
Artist Statement:
Around the time of the wheat harvest, as I strolled through the wheat field with its undulating waves of ears, sinking into a peaceful mood, a nose-wrinkling smell wafted from a pigsty. This, too, is a sign of life, a smell in the midst of decomposition. Ah, but it is terribly foul.
I recall reading something on a documentary flyer: "Life rejects nostalgia. There is no past that ought to arrive." Decomposition and decay encompass such a forceful, forward-moving meaning.
Even in a single natural scene, there are always fierce biological competition and countless forms of vice, free of malice, underneath it all. When I truly consider the fields, the pigsty, and the idyllic scenery of the wheat field, I am reminded that they are far from the cheap sense of tranquility I felt, but rather a place of life's viciously progressive and profoundly positive activity.
I heard that the wheat-harvest scene I saw had already turned entirely green and was no longer there. I hear that those wheat stalks will eventually become beer. Everything, one thing after another, will change without looking back. I was inspired to transform the fusuma (sliding doors) at home, which I had stopped using and was hesitant to discard, into something new.

Title: Traces_Nutaba
Artist: Masashi Echigo
Year: 2025
Number of Works:
- Nutaba (Wallowing Place) made of pine material: 9 pieces
- Photographs: 5 pieces
- 3D-printed model of a Nutaba: 1 piece
Artist Statement:
In the forests of Shodoshima, the mud was breathing slowly.
Visitors come every night, and each time they roll, sink, and rise, the ground remembers the shape of their bodies.
A muddy playground for animals is apparently called "Nutaba" since ancient times.
Coincidentally, I heard that the same visitors appear in the backyard of Mr. Matsuzaki's family home, casually showing up right by the garden.
What remains is the narrative of the body that rolled through—concave and convex.
I picked up that text, transcribed it into three-dimensional memory, and transferred it onto pine wood.
On the exhibition photographs, I lightly overlay the traces of mud rubbed against the tree bark, like an annotation written in the forest and read in the forest.
A trace is the question itself, arriving from an absent other. Try tracing the indentations and protrusions with your finger.
The presence of a muddy body might rise up in your hand.
Even though only we are here, the forest certainly speaks to us in the second person.

Title: I Am Surely Here

Dimensions: 2250 × 1500 mm
Materials: Photograph, Ester Tenjiku (Polyester Jersey)
Artist Statement:
Even without knowing what this place is, one tries to superimpose and grasp a beloved place onto a spot that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Various presences intermingle there, and I, and the being that accepts me, are clearly breathing.
