~ alternative economies of shared value

“Arts of Upcycling: Informal Economies of Sharing” elucidates examples of storied places where reciprocity is center of life, thought and belief. This artist research focuses on integrating alternative economic systems in contemporary artistic ecosystems, asking the question, "How can we decentralize power towards informal sharing economies?"

We are examining literary sources, conducting oral history interviews and doing creative actions focused on island sites with stories embraced by hugs of the Pacific Ocean.

This artist research explores the possibility of a creative and practical models to supplement existing systems with diverse cultural interactions by collecting materials, doing oral histories, translating artifacts and activities rooted in the archipelago of Japan into global models seen with fresh perspectives. 



本研究は「いかにして権力をインフォーマルな共有経済へと脱却させることができるか」という問いのもと、現代の芸術的エコシステムのための共有経済システムに注目する。

特に、ドクメンタ15の芸術監督、ルアンルパが掲げたテーマ「ルンブン（lumbung）」は、地域コミュニティが持つ共有資源を芸術的実践の中心を置き直した「数えられない経済の共有」の重要な実践の一つの形である。

本研究では、既存のシステムに代替する創造的、実践的モデルの可能性を日本の文化的習慣に求め、オーラル・ヒストリーを含む資料を収集し、日本の地方に根差した文物や活動を、グローバルな視点で見つめ直す。
